G Ramachandran is the founder of Gandhigram Trust (1947)[1], an Indian non-profit working on rural & agriculture, education, healthcare and livelihood from Dindigul.

Gandhigram Trust

Gandhigram Trust was founded in 1947 near Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, by Dr T.S. Soundram and G. Ramachandran, ardent followers of Mahatma Gandhi. It runs schools, the Kasturba Hospital, homes for women and children in need, and khadi and village industries that sustain thousands of rural artisans, carrying Gandhian rural development into its eighth decade.

Its Kasturba Hospital served 55,270 out-patients and 4,506 in-patients in 2024-25, conducting 956 deliveries and 680 major and 387 minor operations (Annual Report 2024-25).
Its community mental health programmes directly reached over 3000 people in 2024-25, with 169 cases referred to the District Mental Health Programme (Annual Report 2024-25).
Avvai Ashram at Sivasailam (Tenkasi district) benefits a total of 365 children through its children's home, school for hearing-impaired children and evening coaching centre (Annual Report 2024-25).
