Geeta Balvant Gunde is the founder of Bharatiya Stree Shakti (1988)[1], an Indian non-profit working on women & children, education and livelihood from Mumbai.

Established in 1988 and headquartered in Mahim, Mumbai, Bharatiya Stree Shakti is a voluntary, autonomous women's organisation working on a Panchsutri of education, health, economic independence, gender equality and self-esteem. Through branches across India, family counselling centres, help desks that connect women to government schemes, Gram Chetana for rural women and Gender Clubs for youth, it has intervened in national debates from POCSO cases in the Supreme Court to the portrayal of women in cinema, and represents Indian women's voices at UN forums.
