Madurai Health and Leprosy Relief Centre (MAHELERECEN) has worked since 1991 among slum and rural communities of Madurai district in Tamil Nadu on leprosy awareness, case detection, treatment and rehabilitation. It also runs general health education and community-based rehabilitation programmes, including income-generating self-employment for people disabled by leprosy.
