Himalayan Environmental Studies and Conservation Organisation (HESCO)

HESCO was founded in 1981 by environmentalist Dr Anil Prakash Joshi to combine scientific research with indigenous knowledge in service of Himalayan mountain communities. Based in Dehradun, it develops and transfers low-cost, eco-friendly technologies for water, energy, agriculture and livelihoods, working to restore degraded mountain ecosystems while improving rural incomes.
