Mohan Dharia is the founder of Vanarai (1986)[1], an Indian non-profit working on environment and rural & agriculture from Pune.

Vanarai works on soil and water conservation, sustainable agriculture, afforestation and community health across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and Karnataka, reporting more than 26 million trees planted since it was founded by Padma Vibhushan Dr. Mohan Dharia.
Vanarai reports the following, on its own site:
- 40 years of rural transformation
- 168,983+ acres of land revived, sufficient to feed 1.5 million people
- 250,000+ households transformed
- 300,000 Vanarai bunds made every year
