Tezpur District Mahila Samiti

Founded in 1919 by Chandraprabha Saikiani and contemporaries during the Indian freedom movement, this Tezpur-based samiti is one of Assam's oldest women's organisations. Today it is a federation of rural and tribal women's groups that works on women's rights, grassroots leadership and livelihood, and maintains an extensive archive of over a century of the Assamese women's movement.
