Pioneer of eye care in Northeast India
Founded in 1994 by Dr. Harsha Bhattacharjee and dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao, Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya in Beltola, Guwahati is the largest tertiary eye hospital in Northeast India and was declared a Centre of Excellence in 2004. A non-profit social innovation, it combines advanced sub-specialty ophthalmology, an eye bank and NABL-accredited labs with a community outreach network of eye-care centres, fellowships and optometry training that serve the entire Northeast, and it partners with WHO on the SPECS vision-correction initiative in Assam.
