Palawi, run by the Prabha Hira Pratishthan in Pandharpur, has cared for HIV-positive and destitute children since 2001, when Mangal Shah and her daughter Dimple Ghadge began taking in abandoned infants. The project provides shelter, nutrition, healthcare and schooling through its care home and Dnyanmandir school, and its HIV/AIDS awareness work has reached lakhs of students and young people.
