Builds leadership capacity inside government schools to drive systemic education reform
Mantra4Change works from inside the public education system rather than around it, training head teachers and education department officials to lead school improvement themselves instead of running parallel programs. It began in 2013 as a volunteer effort in a handful of Bengaluru government schools and has since expanded to direct interventions in Bihar, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Its flagship School Transformation and Empowerment Program (STEP) builds school leadership teams that set their own improvement goals and track progress, aiming for change that outlasts any single funded project. Mantra4Change also works as an ecosystem-builder, partnering with state education departments and other education NGOs to align efforts rather than duplicate them. The organisation was founded by Khushboo Awasthi and Santosh More.
