Founded in 1962 by a 40-member group of science writers and teachers, Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad is India's best-known people's science movement, taking science to Kerala's villages in Malayalam through publications, science classes, the Luca science portal and mass campaigns on health, environment and development. Its grassroots literacy and development model won the Right Livelihood Award in 1996.
