Smita Premchander is the founder of Sampark[1], an Indian non-profit working on women & children and livelihood from Bengaluru.

Sampark

Sampark works with vulnerable women and migrant construction workers in and around Bengaluru, building women-owned self-help institutions, running early-childhood creches, sustainable waste-management programmes and a Back to School campaign for underprivileged children.

Sampark reports the following, on its own site:

  • 104,968 rural women supported through SHGs and co-operatives
  • 300,000 migrant workers supported
  • 67,744 migrant children improved their health, education and nutritional status
  • 6,366 migrant children mainstreamed to government school
