Rinchen Wangchuk is the co-founder of Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust (2003)[1], an Indian non-profit working on animals, environment and livelihood from Leh.

Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust, established in 2000 and independent since 2003 under founder-director Rinchen Wangchuk, works with herding communities across Ladakh and Spiti on conflict mitigation, camera-trap research, conservation education and the award-winning UNESCO-supported Himalayan Homestays programme.

Since 2002, SLC-IT has trained over 130 families to offer homestays across Ladakh under its Himalayan Homestays initiative.
Thus far, we have built or improved over 150 livestock corrals across Ladakh, benefitting more than 600 families.
Currently, about 110 households in four villages are part of the community-owned livestock insurance program SLC-IT started in 2001.
Over 200 school-dropouts and unemployed youth have been trained so far through the week-long nature guide training course.
