Sunbird Trust

Sunbird Trust was founded in 2014 by Col Christopher Rego (Retd), drawing on his years in Mizoram and Manipur, on the belief that education is a catalyst for peace in Northeast India. It works in remote and conflict-affected areas through school transformation and government school programmes, scholarships and sponsorships for students, a teachers' training academy, a leaders' fellowship, and community development and livelihood support.

Sunbird Trust reports the following, on its own site:

• 4,93,261 lives impacted (as of 31 March 2026)
• 65,791 annual scholarships
• 38 schools and hostels built
