Sri Keshava Trust was started by Dr K Ramachandra Murthy in 1988 to provide eye healthcare to people who need it most in and around Bengaluru. It began with diagnostic and treatment camps in five rural areas before the Vittala International Institute of Ophthalmology was set up on land granted by the Karnataka government in 1998, supported by thousands of individual donors. The institute now runs an established eye hospital offering cataract, vitreoretinal, cornea and contact-lens services.
