Founded in 1983 with the vision of securing safe blood for patients in the Pune region, Jankalyan Blood Centre (formerly Jankalyan Blood Bank, popularly Jankalyan Rakta Pedhi) is one of the city's most trusted voluntary blood centres. Working round the clock from Shukrawar Peth, it supplies whole blood, components and apheresis platelets to hospitals, supports thalassemia and cancer patients, and partners with ICMR's National Institute of Immunohaematology on the national registry for rare Bombay blood group donors.
