Tarak Patel is the co-founder of ReefWatch Marine Conservation[1], an Indian non-profit working on environment and animals from Mumbai.

ReefWatch Marine Conservation

ReefWatch Marine Conservation restores coral reefs in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and runs a marine megafauna stranding-response network along the coasts of Karnataka and Goa.

ReefWatch Marine Conservation reports the following, on its own site:

  • Attended 494 marine animal stranding cases in FY 2024-25 — 336 in Goa, 70 in Karnataka and 88 during a mass stranding event in Chennai — of which 181 were live animals.
  • Engaged 2,966 students aged 10 to 18 through workshops, presentations and field trips across its Andaman, Goa and Karnataka bases in FY 2024-25.
  • Guarded 14 sea turtle nests and released 696 hatchlings safely to sea in FY 2024-25, and retrieved 9.5 tonnes of ghost nets.
