Operation ASHA delivers TB detection, treatment support and counselling to disadvantaged communities through local health workers and low-cost technology, working alongside India's national TB elimination programme and in other countries. It focuses on preventing drug-resistant TB by ensuring patients complete treatment.
Operation ASHA reports the following, on its own site:
- 200,030 patients treated for drug-sensitive TB, plus 908 MDR-TB patients
- Treatment success rate of over 85% for drug-sensitive TB
- Nearly 8.0 million families sensitised and screened for TB symptoms
- Over 5,200 village volunteers trained on TB detection and treatment
