Founded in 1972 by Sri Sathya Sai Baba as a public charitable trust, the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust runs free education, healthcare and drinking-water projects along with wider social service, open to all without discrimination. Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospitals run the world's largest network of totally free paediatric cardiac care, with centres at Atal Nagar (Raipur, opened 2012), Palwal in Haryana and Kharghar in Navi Mumbai, plus international centres in Fiji, Sri Lanka and Nigeria. Every congenital heart defect surgery, stay and follow-up is provided completely free of cost to children from families across India, along with mother-and-child health programmes and training institutes for paediatric cardiac skills.
