Sonali Saini
FounderFounder of Sol's ARC
Sonali Saini is the founder of Sol's ARC[1], an Indian non-profit working on disability, education and livelihood from Mumbai.
Sol's ARC
Sol's ARC (Assessment and Remedial Centre) was started by Sonali Saini in 2003 to serve children and young adults with autism, intellectual disabilities and other special learning needs, initially through diagnostic and remedial therapy. Over two decades it has grown into a full continuum of services under one roof — occupational, speech and behavioural therapy, an inclusive academic curriculum for children not keeping pace at grade level, and a skills-training and job-placement program that has partnered with employers such as Amazon India to place young adults with disabilities into paid internships and jobs. Sol's ARC runs multiple centres in and around Mumbai and frames its work around the scale of the problem in India: it cites large numbers of children facing undiagnosed disability, mental health or abuse risk, and very high unemployment among young adults with disabilities once they age out of school-based support.
Sol's ARC reports the following, on its own site:
- 1.7 million children impacted over 18 years of operation
