Sarmistha Dutta Gupta is the founder-secretary of Ebong Alap[1], an Indian non-profit working on education and human rights from Kolkata.
Ebong Alap
A Kolkata feminist collective registered in 2003, Ebong Alap works on gender-sensitive and critical citizenship through workshops with adolescents, college students, government school teachers and rural women's groups. It publishes the Alap Series of accessible Bengali books on subjects such as globalisation, fundamentalism and gender, alongside a blog and digital infographics for readers outside the English-language world. For a decade it also ran gender-awareness work with girls and school students on Bali island in the Sundarbans.
