Sarit Sharma is the founder of Aavishkaar (2014)[1], an Indian non-profit working on education from Palampur.
Aavishkaar
Aavishkaar is a centre for Science, Math, Arts and Technology in Kandbari village near Palampur, founded in 2014 by US-returned engineers Sandhya Gupta and Sarit Sharma. It makes STEM learning experiential and hands-on for students and teachers in remote Himalayan schools, and has extended its teacher-training and learning programmes to multiple states.
Aavishkaar reports the following, on its own site:
- In 2023-24 Aavishkaar worked directly with 320 mentor teachers, 930 in-service & aspiring teachers, 1,000 students and 40 organisations, and through them indirectly impacted 1,60,000 students & 16,700 teachers (Annual Report 2023-24 snapshot of the year).
- Aavishkaar worked with three State Governments (Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, and UT of Jammu & Kashmir) in 2023-24; through comprehensive training and capacity building programs it directly worked with 240 mentor teachers and 260 teachers, and via them reached 1,55,000 students & 16,700 teachers.
- 100% job placements of graduates from the Women Math Educator Program; worked across India in 17 States & 2 Union Territories with 40+ partnerships (Annual Report 2023-24 highlights of the year).
