Raju Bapu Talaunekar is the founder of Peaceful Society (1983)[1], an Indian non-profit working on rural & agriculture, environment and human rights from Madkai.

Peaceful Society, established in 1983 at Madkai in Ponda taluka, is Goa's prominent Gandhian voluntary organisation. Co-founded by Kumar Kalanand Mani, it works on rural development, panchayati raj empowerment, health and environment, and has been an initiator and coordinating force of the Save Western Ghats Movement.

Peaceful Society reports the following, on its own site:

  • The Save the Western Ghats March, which Peaceful Society was entrusted to organise, was carried out as a foot march in 1987-88 with the active involvement of more than 150 organisations.
