Healing Himalayas Foundation
Healing Himalayas Foundation, founded by environmentalist and mountaineer Pradeep Sangwan, tackles waste pollution across the Himalayas. It builds decentralised, mountain-ready Material Recovery Facilities that double as community learning spaces, runs cleanup drives with volunteers along trek routes, works with governments on high-altitude waste governance and pilgrimage systems, and creates green livelihoods through recycling, upcycling and composting enterprises.
Healing Himalayas Foundation reports the following, on its own site:
- 1,000+ cleanup drives, with volunteers trekking 10,000+ km
- 2,000+ tonnes of waste collected from the Himalayas
- 9 material recovery facilities across 50+ villages
- 8,757+ households and 2,900+ commercial establishments reached as direct beneficiaries
