Muthulakshmi Reddy is the founder of Avvai Home (1931)^[1], an Indian non-profit working on orphans & child care, education and women & children from Chennai.

Avvai Home

Avvai Home was established in 1931 by Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy to shelter, protect and educate orphan girls and deserted women irrespective of caste or creed. Located in Adyar, Chennai, it runs a residential home, a pre-primary and primary school started in 1950, and the T V R Higher Secondary School founded in 1963-64. Girls in the home are educated from primary school through classes X and XII.
