Mathru Educational Trust for the Blind
Mathru Educational Trust for the Blind and Other Disabled has cared for disabled children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds since 2001, taking its name from the Kannada word for a motherly touch. Based in Bengaluru, it grew from a small rented space for a few visually challenged students into a residential school for the blind, and now runs a school for hearing impaired children on land granted by the Government of Karnataka along with programmes for deafblind and multisensory-disabled students in collaboration with Sense International India.
Mathru Educational Trust for the Blind reports the following, on its own site:
- Positively impacted the lives of over 250 children and their families
- Currently serves over 200 children from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds
