Founder and co-founder

Founder of Development Association for Integrated Activity

Mrs Jeya Gell is the founder and co-founder of Development Association for Integrated Activity (2002)[1], an Indian non-profit working on education, elderly and livelihood from Tuticorin.

Development Association for Integrated Activity

Development Association for Integrated Activity (DAIA) was established in 2002 by Gell Joseph, initially to support individuals affected by HIV, before expanding into broader poverty alleviation work in Tuticorin district, Tamil Nadu. Its programmes are organised around three pillars: after-school tuition centres for children, support for the elderly with groceries, medicine and health check-ups, and vocational/livelihood training for women in trades such as animal rearing, food stalls and tailoring. It also runs an integrated rural-village development programme called RUPA.

Development Association for Integrated Activity reports the following, on its own site:

  • Runs eight after-school tuition centres serving over 250 children
