Mritunjay Tiwary is the co-founder of Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital (2005)[1], an Indian non-profit working on healthcare and women & children from Mastichak (Saran).

Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital, started in December 2005 at village Mastichak in Saran district, is the largest charitable eye hospital in eastern India, with outreach centres in Patna, Ballia, Samastipur and Purnea. Alongside high-volume free eye surgery for the poor, it runs a football-linked girls' empowerment programme that trains rural girls as optometrists.
Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital reports the following, on its own site:
- 7,394,010 eyes screened over the last 20 years
- 1,140,696 eye surgeries provided, of which 937,770 were free
