Mr. Girin Chetia is the founder (led the founding group) of North East Affected Area Development Society (NEADS) (1985)[1], an Indian non-profit working on disaster relief, rural & agriculture and water & sanitation from Jorhat.

NEADS works on disaster risk reduction, humanitarian response, water and sanitation, livelihoods, education and gender justice across nine districts of Upper Assam, and holds special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council.
North East Affected Area Development Society (NEADS) reports the following, on its own site:
- NEADS's Community Development Programme at Sadiya (2007-2017) reached 28 villages, 584 girls, 400 boys and 283 people with disabilities, indirectly benefiting 2,016 families.
