M.B.Nirmal is the founder of 5th Pillar (1997)[1], an Indian non-profit working on human rights from Chennai.
5th Pillar
5th Pillar is a Chennai-based civic movement best known for creating the Zero Rupee Note, a mock currency citizens hand to officials who demand bribes, distributed more than 3 million times across India. It also runs Right to Information workshops and civic-engagement programmes to strengthen everyday accountability.
5th Pillar reports the following, on its own site:
- Anti-corruption education program has covered more than 3,000 schools, colleges and groups in India, reaching out to more than 5 lakh (500,000) youth over 9 years
