Founder & Lead

Founder of KhelMel

Kushal Agarwal is the founder & lead of KhelMel[1], an Indian non-profit working on sports and women & children from Raigarh.

KhelMel

KhelMel uses structured sport to build emotional resilience in children in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, most of whom — its founder estimates 60 to 70 per cent in the communities it serves — face neglect or violence at home. Founder Kushal Agarwal, who grew up in an unstable household himself, designed its sessions as safe spaces where children can share feelings and develop confidence, not merely compete.

KhelMel reports the following, on its own site:

  • 153 children directly impacted through the community program
  • 4000+ children impacted through partnership with other NGOs
  • 80+ communities through direct and indirect intervention
  • 114 volunteers, coaches and facilitators trained
