Krishna Kumar is the founder – thuvakkam of Thuvakkam[1], an Indian non-profit working on environment and disaster relief from Chennai.
Thuvakkam
A volunteer-driven Chennai movement whose green projects range from urban tree plantations and mangrove restoration to a Metro green zone. Its education arm runs Smart Class and sponsorship projects, while humanity drives — from zero-hunger meal distributions to disaster relief — mobilise corporate and citizen volunteers alike.
Thuvakkam reports the following, on its own site:
- Thuvakkam successfully planted 1,500+ indigenous saplings with the support of 300+ volunteers
- We distributed over 100 food packets, reaching homeless individuals in Chhatarpur and around Chhatarpur Metro Station.
- 25 volunteers came together with their families to plant 60+ native saplings
