Founded in 1998 in Salt Lake, Kolkata by Dr. Sreeradha Bagchi Paul and fellow philanthropist-doctors, Susrut Eye Foundation & Research Centre has grown from a clinic seeing 80-odd patients a day into one of eastern India's largest eye-care networks, with branches from Berhampore and Purulia to Bhagalpur in Bihar. Its sub-specialty services span cataract, glaucoma, cornea, retina, paediatric ophthalmology and ocular oncology, and its eye bank is among the region's most active.
