Champa Devi Shukla is the founder of Chingari Trust (2006)[1], an Indian non-profit working on disability and healthcare from Bhopal.

Chingari Trust

Chingari Trust was founded by Goldman Environmental Prize winners Rashida Bee and Champa Devi Shukla, both Bhopal gas survivors, to provide free physiotherapy, speech therapy, special education and occupational therapy to children with congenital disabilities born to families affected by the 1984 gas disaster and subsequent groundwater contamination.

Chingari Trust reports the following, on its own site:

  • 1,004+ children registered
  • 300 children receiving daily care
  • 45 children started walking
  • 46 children joined normal schools
