Bhikkhu Sanghasena is the founder of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (1986)[1], an Indian non-profit working on faith-based service, education, elderly, healthcare and disability from Leh.
Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre
Founded by Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena in a small rented room in Leh in 1986, the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre grew into the 250-acre Devachan campus at Choglamsar, running a residential school, hostels for visually impaired children, Karuna Charitable Hospital, an old age home and meditation retreats in the high Himalayan desert.
Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre reports the following, on its own site:
- The Old Age Home, established in 1995, currently houses around 35 elderly residents
- A 250-acre Devachan campus at Choglamsar developed from desert land since 1991
