P.C. Rajesh is the co-founder of Forest First Samithi[1], an Indian non-profit working on environment and livelihood from Wayanad.
Forest First Samithi
Forest First Samithi was founded in 2010 by Meera Chandran after she began clearing invasive Lantana camara from her family's land in Wayanad, and has since grown into a science-based invasive-species removal and native-forest restoration effort. It works with the Kerala Forest Department on large-scale clearance projects, including a widely reported Senna spectabilis removal programme.
Forest First Samithi reports the following, on its own site:
- 775+ acres of land under restoration
- 79k saplings planted; 64k Lantana-freed saplings
- 150+ native/RET species conserved
- 70,000+ wage days of livelihood generated
