Tagore Society for Rural Development

The Tagore Society for Rural Development, registered in 1969, is one of the oldest and largest civil society organisations in eastern India. Guided by Tushar Kanjilal's work at Rangabelia, it runs rural development, mangrove restoration, health and alternative livelihood programmes across the Sundarbans, West Bengal and Jharkhand.

Tagore Society for Rural Development reports the following, on its own site:

  • Works across 1,950 villages in 42 blocks of 10 districts in West Bengal and Jharkhand
  • Around 10,00,000 beneficiaries/farmers directly involved in TSRD projects
