Little Drops

Little Drops, a public charitable trust conceived in Chennai in 1991 by two childhood friends, rescues abandoned and destitute elderly people from the streets and gives them lifelong shelter, food and medical care. From its first four residents it has grown to a network of homes across Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru, funded partly by a thrift outlet whose proceeds pay for residents' medicines.

Little Drops reports the following, on its own site:

  • Over 1,000 abandoned elderly destitute currently accommodated across 10 homes, mostly in Tamil Nadu and one in Bengaluru
  • Over 8,800 destitute rescued since inception in 1991
