Arjun Deshpande is the founder of Vrikshamitra Foundation (2018)[1], an Indian non-profit working on environment.

Arjun Deshpande is described on the website of the VrikshaMitra Foundation as its founder and director. The foundation is an Indian tree-planting and environmental education organisation that says it began in Pune in 2018 as a weekend planting effort by a group of nature enthusiasts and now works in more than twenty cities with schools, companies, farmers and local communities on planting native trees and restoring degraded land. The name vrikshamitra means 'friend of trees' in Sanskrit.

In a message on the foundation's About page, Deshpande writes: 'When I planted my first tree in 2018, I didn't imagine it would grow into a movement of 5,000 volunteers across 20 cities.'[2]
